100% Online HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Cost: $70
Duration: 1 Hour (approx.)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Course Description

Cardiac arrest is a medical emergency that can lead to death. With urgent medical care to restart the heart, survival is possible.

Quick decision making to recognise and assess a cardiac emergency, call for medical assistance and perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures will increase the chance of survival for a person who is unconscious and not breathing normally.

In this CPR course, you will learn these skills, in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, including using an automated external defibrillator (AED), how to rotate first aiders with minimal interruptions to compressions, and what to do if the casualty regurgitates or vomits.

The course also covers conveying accurate incident details when handing the casualty over to emergency services, how to review an incident, to recognise any psychological impacts on self and other rescuers, to seek help if required and for improvement of own personal skills and response times.

This 100% Online course consists of an e-learning module, followed by a 'virtual classroom' assessment session. The virtual assessment session runs for approximately 1 hour.

There is a practical assessment (as per the unit of competency guidelines) of two (2) minutes of uninterrupted CPR performed on the floor. If you are physically incapable of performing CPR on the floor, please contact our staff for further information.

Assessment is conducted via a Zoom conference session with your instructor. All required equipment will be delivered to you prior to your assessment session, including: mini anne 1

  • Laerdel Mini Anne - inflatable CPR training manikin with integrated adult/child compression clicker
  • Simulated AED trainer with pads
  • First Aid Manual
  • CPR Chart
  • Your 'Statement of Attainment' after successful completion of your online assessment.

Students are able to keep all equipment after completing their assessment.
There is also a free instructional video, so after your course, your whole family can have a go, and learn CPR from the safety of your own home.
